Teaching is more than just a career, it's a commitment to educating our future leaders. Being a teacher doesn't stop when you leave the building (or close the lap top) for the day. It's a 24/7, 365 job and that's what makes teachers so amazing.

Our new teacher of the week truly goes above and beyond for her students.

Congratulations to Mrs. Susan Naylor from Rochelle Township High School! Her nomination letter was written by her best friend Becky Cox, and the letter reads -

I would like to nominate someone very special. Her name is Mrs. Susan Naylor. I have known her for years and she has come to be a very important part of my life. Not only is she important to me, she is important to her students. Everyone should be so fortunate to have her as a teacher. She teaches special education. When she says you are her student, what she really means is that you are a part of her "family". She has always gone above and beyond to help her students be successful. Most recently, she bought a train ticket for a student to be able to return to school to take the SAT in order to graduate. This is a student she has watched over for all 4 years of school. Unfortunately, the student was displaced and had to stay with family in another state. Mrs. Naylor took it upon herself to use her own money to help the student get back in time to take her test. When Mrs. Naylor has your back, she truly means that. She has gone above and beyond to help students that need food or warm clothes for the winter. When she leaves school each day, she takes the kids with her in her heart. She worries about them and tries to stay in touch with them the best way that she can during remote learning. She has a great sense of humor and she takes the time to form powerful connections with each of her students. Mrs. Naylor is the type of person and teacher that you remember for the rest of your life. Many are blessed to be her student, I am blessed to be her best friend!

Mrs. Naylor got an awesome delivery of a delicious cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and a gorgeous floral arrangement from Broadway Florist.

Congrats again Mrs. Naylor!
